Huge Success for the Milano Running Festival presented by Sky Wifi
More than 40,000 attendees visited MiCo in City Life from Thursday to Saturday, and over 8,500 participants took part in the Levissima Family Run and the Arcaplanet Dog Run, bringing color, laughter, and energy to a beautiful spring Saturday in Milan.
Tomorrow marks the start of the 23rd edition of the Wizz Air Milano Marathon, with over 10,000 registered runners—56% of them international participants.
The course features a loop route with both the start and finish line in Piazza del Duomo, in the heart of the city, for the second consecutive year—a design that ensures both speed and fluidity.
The first 16 kilometers wind through central Milan (Cairoli, Conciliazione, and Pagano), before heading toward Monte Stella, the Hippodrome, San Siro, and Parco di Trenno. From the 28th kilometer, runners will return to the city center through Parco del Portello and into Corso Sempione, passing through iconic locations such as Arena Civica, Moscova, Brera, Montenapoleone, and San Babila. The race kicks off at 8:30 AM!

Alongside the sporting competition, organized by Sports & Events – RCS Active Team, there will also be the relay race, the UniCredit Relay Marathon, starting at 9:00 AM. The start is from Piazza del Duomo, but the finish line will be in Via Palestro, where later the parades of all 103 Official Organizations of the Milano Marathon Charity Program will take place. A record number of registrations has been reached with 4,000 teams, totaling 16,000 runners. Near the finish line – at the corner with Via Marina – there will be the Charity Village. Below are the RELAY EXCHANGE POINTS along the course: 1. Conciliazione-Pagano 2. Lotto (Via Caprilli) 3. Uruguay.
There will be plenty of Cheer Points along the course, spaced approximately one kilometer apart, providing lots of entertainment and music to give runners all the warmth and support from the city.
Live coverage of the Wizz Air Milano Marathon will begin at 8:20 AM on Sky Sport Arena (channel 204) and streamed on NOW, with commentary by Nicola Roggero and technical analysis by Stefano Baldini, Olympic marathon champion in Athens 2004 and Asics Ambassador.
RTL 102.5, Italy’s first radiovision and the event’s official radio, will be live on air with real-time updates, interviews with the key players, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content, taking listeners through every moment of the marathon. With entertainment by Davide Guerra and live reports from Luigi Santarelli and Lucrezia Bernardo, the broadcast will continuously update on results, athlete performances, and the overall atmosphere of the marathon.
TOMORROW’S TOP RUNNERS
Among the men, Raymond Choge (Kenya), second place finisher at last year’s Wizz Air Milano Marathon with a personal best of 2h07:34, returns with a clear ambition to claim the top spot on the podium. Kenyans Abraham Kiptoo (2h05:04) and Bethwel Yegon (2h06:14), along with Ethiopian Fikre Tefera (2h06:16), appear to be, on paper, a step above the rest. Tomorrow will also mark the marathon debut of Eritrean Aaron Kifle, former U20 10,000m world champion and bronze medalist at the World Half Marathon Championships in Valencia.
There is great anticipation around Isaac Kipkemboi Too (Kenya), runner-up in last September’s Buenos Aires Marathon and in the top ten at the last Milano Marathon, who is reported to be in great shape. Bygon Kiprono (Kenya), fourth at last December’s Abu Dhabi Marathon with a PB of 2h07:22, could be a surprise contender.
In the women’s field, fast times are expected. Ethiopian training partners Haftamesh Tesfay (PB 2h20:13) and Shure Demise (2h20:59) look set to play leading roles. Rediet Molla (Ethiopia, 2h26:25) is reported to be in top condition, as is fellow Ethiopian Mekuria Alamirew, who clocked 2h26:49 last January at the Dubai Marathon and could be a top-tier outsider.
Here the Top Runner list with relative bibs.
